After a good Thanksgiving in
Charlotte, Kim and Katherine brought us back
to Beaufort and helped us get settled in. On Sunday, they left to return to
Charlotte; Pat, Walt and I left Beaufort on high tide, about 12:00 Noon, and
did a short run down to Bull Creek across from Hilton Head Island to anchor for
the evening. We stopped at Skull Creek
Marina on the ICW and paid a new high price to refuel.
The next day, we traveled out of SC into GA, meandering through the marshy ICW. This section of
the ICW is very scenic, and takes a curvy path through the Georgia low
country. We passed along the Moon River
made famous in the Andy Williams song. We were surprised by a container ship coming out of the fog as we crossed over the Savannah River. Our destination was a spot to go offshore on Tuesday morning. We ended up in Walburg Creek, just across
from St Catherine’s Sound. As we were
crossing the Sound, we were outrunning an approaching front that caught us just
as we anchored. Just a little rain – not
bad. The plan for tomorrow is to run
offshore to Ponce De Leon inlet, or farther if the weather permits it.
