Southport NC to Beaufort SC - Nov 14 - 15

We left Southport at 8:00A, with a plan to travel overnight by ocean route for 27 hours to reach Beaufort SC. Allen entered way points into the chart plotter for our route. We left the ICW at MM 305, and entered the ocean at Southport. The boat performed beautifully, but alas, no wind. We made good time motoring, and passed Charleston harbor at 3:00A. We re-entered the ICW at MM 520 after entering St Helena Sound, then traveled on to Beaufort. What we didn't count on was reentering from the ocean into a thick fog bank that didn't lift until 12:00. What should have been a 3 hour trip from the ocean to Beaufort took 7 hours as we navigated through the fog. - NO FUN...thank heavens for GPS and radar.  As an added bonus, when we stopped to let the fog clear, a local boater told us we had stopped at the creek where the scene was filmed of "Lieutenant Dan" jumping off the shrimp boat in Bubba Gump.
